I was binge watching marry my husband for the last two days and have reached uhh ep 7?
And as someone who read the webtoon: wtf why is sumin so much more eerie?
Maybe it's because I'm more swayed by videos than images and they had to stay with the style of fx while the series could use low lighting and angles and just the mere use of a real human face
But fuck sumin gets scary in her yandere Jiwon is all I have mode tf

I like how in the manhwa Yu was all mysterious and shit having and controlling everything that readers thought he might be involved with the mafia, meanwhile in the drama they just gave him 2 high school friends that he sometimes asks to do weird things like fake a delivery and kidnap a guy
#find yourself some friends that would kidnap your crush's ex if you asked them too#no questions asked#marry my husband#jihyeok yu#yu jihyeok#manhwa#kdrama

going insane
he watches her, eyes fixed on the back of her head. he knows the plan — they came up with it together. but it doesn’t stop jihyeok from feeling uncomfortable, jittery, and anxious as hell.
he could never trust minhwan. not with anything, and especially not with jiwon.
he trusted her. trusted her ability to kick his ass if she needed to….but he would rather avoid any situation where she would have to go that far.
his hands tighten around the steering wheel as he watches another slimy smile curl up minhwan’s lips, his eyes almost glittering as he listens to whatever fake flattery jiwon was feeding him.
he felt sick.
jihyeok looks away for a second, eyes flicking down as he takes another deep breath, only to look up and find them with his arms around her.
his stomach lurches, and his fingers are numb with how tightly he was holding onto the steering wheel— his body screamed at him to move; to get out of the car, to sprint over and tear him away from her.
but he knew he couldn’t — he shouldn’t.
because he trusted jiwon. he trusted her.
..
but that didn’t stop him from feeling physically sick simply by seeing that bastard’s smile stretching out wider on his face as he pulls jiwon closer to his body.
jihyeok struggles to keep his eyes on them, knowing that he shouldn’t look away just in case she needed him.
but it was hard. everything about this was hard.
he doesn’t realise he’d been holding his breath until they finally step away from each other, his lungs aching as minhwan’s arms fall back to his sides.
he grinds his teeth as he watches him clumsily wave goodbye at jiwon, only for his jaw to slowly unclench when she looks back at him— her eyes already apologetic.
the anger that had reached its peak in his chest slowly starts to subside, his numb fingers finally letting go
he leans back as he watches her slowly make her way over; breathing in — breathing out.
the first step was over. they could do this. he could do this.
she opens the door and climbs in, her eyes downcast as she makes herself small, fumbling with the seatbelt and settling in.
she feels bad. she feels bad for doing something they had both agreed to.
and he was sure he wasn’t helping.
shame creeps up in his chest when she apologises, and he feels restless again.
restless enough to get out of the car. restless enough to watch her confused expression as he walks over to her side.
restless enough to gently pull her out of the car — and wrap his arms around her, pulling her in tight.
he feels his heart thudding erratically against his ribcage; feels his uneven breathing every time he lets out a breath and watches jiwon’s hair flutter with the motion.
he takes in a deep breath, breathing in her familiar scent and letting it overwhelm his senses.
he hears her let out a soft giggle in his ear, her arms coming round to hold him close even as she questions what he’s doing.
he hears the laughter in her voice, the soft concern.
he feels her. holding him.
and that was enough.
his heart slows down, his breathing back to normal.
they could do this. he could do this.
he pulls back to look at her, a smile easily making its way on his face.
“i just couldn’t help myself,” he says with a boyish smile on his face. “it was either hug you, or go insane.” he shrugs, as he watches her eyes crinkle with amusement.
they were shining up at him, in a way that drove him insane.
“you like me a lot, don’t you?” she teases, leaning in.
jihyeok is taken aback for a second, his mind glitching as he stares at her— blinking once, twice.
he shakes his head in an attempt to break the spell she put him under, although he knows he’ll never fully be able to.
(not that he wants to.)
“i don’t know what you’re talking about,” he finally replies, leaning forward as he opens the car door for her.
“hmm,” is all she says, eyeing him for a beat before climbing back into his car.
they were going to be alright.
#idk i wanted#to write jihyeok’s POV for when jiwon goes on her date with minhwan#kinda spoilers for the latest ep?? so maybe don’t read if u haven’t watched ep 14 lol#marry my husband#yu jihyuk#yu jihyeok#kang jiwon

Renascent - chapter 2
Chapter 1
Ji-won was asked to sit in the waiting room as Ji-hyuk was taken into emergency. She had ridden with them in the ambulance and answered the little she could about Ji-hyuk, he was conscious but not making much sense so he could not answer the questions himself.
But now she was forced to wait for news while the doctors worked on him. All she had were her thoughts that made as much sense as the man they were about. Why did he drive in front of the Truck? It would have hit me so he did it to save me? Why was he even there? What does he mean the inevitable just happened? Why does that phrase sound familiar? Her thoughts whirled round and around until a voice broke through them.
“Ms. Kang!” Hui-yeon walked in with her Grandfather and Mr. Lee not far behind. “Have they said anything?”
“No, they’re still with him and have only told me to wait.” Ji-won held out the paperwork she had been given to fill in for him, “But they need this.”
Mr. Lee stepped forward to take it as Chairman Yu stared at her, “What were you doing with Ji-hyuk that he got hit by a car?”
Ji-won shook her head, how could she tell them he did it on purpose. “We weren’t together, I didn’t even see Yu Ji-hyuk before the truck hit him.”
Chairman Yu opened his mouth to say something else but Hui-yeon spoke first. “Don’t blame her Grandfather, it was an accident.”
He grunted and waved them away as he sat down to wait for news. Hui-yeon sat beside him and laid her head on his shoulder as Mr. Lee turned to Ji-won and thanked her for calling them. “You should go home now Ms. Kang, Chairman Yu does not want you here.”
Tears filled her eyes as she nodded in agreement, “I should feed Pang he’ll be wondering where Yu Ji-hyuk is.”
“The cat he made the trust agreement for?” Mr. Lee spoke quietly but Ji-won still heard him.
A sharp pain stabbed in her chest as she was hit with a realisation. “Yu Ji-huyk made a trust for Pang? When was this?”
“It was early December,” Mr. Lee looked at her with confusion not understanding as the tears fell down her cheeks and she held her hands to her mouth to keep the words she shouldn’t speak from spilling out.

Okay so the entirety of the WEBTOON is out and so is the KDrama. Both have, in fact, been out for a bit, but I needed to get my thoughts together. Obviously, if you haven't interacted with either piece of media, this is going to be a spoiler it. I'm specifically going to be talking about suicide and the way it's used in the WEBTOON as this particular character backstory and subsequent original death were both changed a lot. If you don't want to read about suicide, fictional or otherwise, or you don't want spoilers, please don't read on.
And if you want to know what's going on or want to know the full context of the WEBTOON because you've either never engaged with the material or have only watched the show? I recommend reading the comic on manhwa instead of WEBTOON since manhwa seems to be totally free. And in order to not take a while (plus lot of ads since you get 1 free chapter per day + 3 ad chapters that last 3 days) to read it there, you'll need the webtoon app and 15 bucks. And no matter what WEBTOON is gonna really yell at you if you do even a single screenshot.
Okay, to start off with, there are some things that don't change for Mr. Yu regardless of medium. No matter what, at the beginning he's seen as cold and distant. He's also extremely buttoned up and more than a little bit awkward around Jiwon to the point where he actually seemed suspicious to me at first because he was just always around when something was about to happen, and Jiwon did not know why that was happening, so neither did I.
It takes until chapter 46 of the WEBTOON for it to be revealed that Jihyeok also traveled back in time and died before. Up until that point, his goals and motivation are still somewhat mysterious. Even though they are like, fully dating by that point. But I don't consider that the biggest change. After all, the WEBTOON is from Jiwon's POV mostly, and the show took a much more widespread approach, which made sense. Also the show had to condense the entire comic into like, 16 episodes. That's a lot to get through.
So here are the things that I actually consider the biggest changes to his character and I promise I'll explain why those lead to the writer's choice of death for him making way more sense for that version to me.
1.) Jihyeok has known that he was romantically interested in Jiwon since before they officially spoke to each other in college. He even specifically saves Pang (the cat) because Jiwon liked that cat and he saw her interacting with that cat. He even saved the cat for her after Jiwon's ex poisoned the cat (yeah, she's literally always had terrible taste in men before Jihyeok).
2.) He quit his job at U&K after Jiwon married Minhwan in an attempt to move on because he still loved Jiwon. Probably wouldn't have been good to be the boss over the newlywed couple you're secretly like jealous over.
3.) The day Jiwon dies, Jihyeok goes to visit her because he learned she'd fallen ill. He sees her take a cab away from the hospital and isn't sure if he should go talk to her. And then he hears a scream and arrives just in time to see her die. He is devastated and arranges and pays for her entire funeral while wishing he could give his own life to go back to fix his own mistakes. Like literally. We get this information extremely clearly.
I think all of this combined with the fact that otherwise in his life, he's made no other choices for himself, makes Jihyeok killing himself make a sort of tragic sense. And also I've seen people say that there was 'no reason' for him to kill himself, and I've just got to wonder if the people who said that read that chapter at all. He literally says multiple times across 2 flashback chapters why he wants to die. Like I don't agree with suicide, but as someone who has battled, and is still battling, depression my entire life, and knows what it's like when it feels like your life has been kind of chosen for you? Going through a situation that he did has got to be devastating. Like in a completely soul crushing way. And if you have nothing to anchor you in life, it's not surprising when that life ends in heartbreak.
And from a literary standpoint there is something deeply tragic about a man who didn't truly make a decision for himself until it was too late and so the only choice he actually makes is how and when to die. The show has a different sort of tragedy in that he never decides how he lives or dies in the show for his first life. I believe my interpretation is further supported by the webtoon making his new life filled with choice. Like a lot of choices.
He is constantly making actual decisions in his new life.
He actually pursues Jiwon, he stands up for himself and others more at work, he actually ends things with Yura and gets her sent away pretty quickly (she doesn't die in the novel and straight up isn’t in the WEBTOON), and then he actually quits for the right reasons. He quits because he never wanted to run U&K in the first place, so he goes off to run his own company and leaves his sister to run it since she's the one who wanted that life. And she's better at it.
And I honestly think the show makes his character a little weaker for not having his arc focus on his choices, both good and bad. That's not to say he doesn't start making choices in the show, but it's more along the lines of 'I'll actually commit to this choice other people made for me'. Well, with the big exception being marrying Jiwon.
Jihyeok's decision to take his own life wasn't a good decision. It's not one I can agree with in real life, but from a writing choice, I like it for the story way more than a random car accident. I like the implications for the character and his arc way more if it's intentional. I think it's a stronger choice if this time he chooses to live and not to die. And also I really liked how it got then mirrored in Minhwan inadvertently killing himself with what was supposed to kill Sumin. I feel like overall the deaths in the WEBTOON in general, but especially with Jiwon, can be governed by the idea of choice, and the show lost that a little bit.
Also in the comic he literally opens his eyes and the first thing he hears and sees in his new life is Jiwon and you cannot tell me that's not the cutest fucking thing.

Soooooo....yandere ji-hyeok and yandere ji-woj from marry my husband?
(Of-course, apologies if it's a bit rusty...)
Yandere!Ji-hyeok, Ji-won X Reader HCs
Yu Ji-hyeok
⊷ Okay, let's start with the fact that maybe he found with playing with the Pang and was immediately enamored with you, your personality, your caring nature, your beauty and introduced himself to you and took the kitty home hoping to see you again the next day..
⊷ Now it depends, if you came everyday after that, he would slowly build a bond with you and get your number and become one of your close friends, and if you didn't come like Jiwon..then he would still visit everyday hoping to see you bringing Pang with him!
⊷ Jihyeok, though definitely have a strong enough family is very much cared for you, he was always scared something will happen and the paranoia was horrible for his condition..he wouldn't sleep or anything, Huiyeong got annoyed at this and she agreed to be your friend to keep tabs on you for him so he gets his rest..
⊷ Jihyeok is never one to use his power as the grandson of a huge chairman, but for you, he definitely uses it to his advantage, like having you get into his sector, having you work side-by-side with him or Huiyeong!
⊷ Would never let Minhwan or Sumin get near you, oh hell no..He has seen those two hurt Jiwon, so he helped his friend and he knows those two will try to get close to you as well..he's not going to allow that!
⊷ Makes sure you're with him AT ALL TIMES!! He cannot stand being away, he will hold your wrists tightly (a bit too tightly at times..) and has a hand on your waist if he can't hold your hand...he just gets paranoid when you're not around....Don't ask why, he just does...worried someone will hurt you..
⊷ Needs to have you at arms-length at ALL TIMES! if that isn't possible, you have to be in his eye range, he isn't afraid to falsely accuse people you care about of serious crimes if it means you'll be under his control and under his embrace..
⊷ Huiyeong is also around you at-least 99% of the time, he has her gain your trust and tell him anything you say or think or do...everything is passed through her hands to Jihyeok.
⊷ Most definitely blackmails Minhwan and Sumin under the threat of revealing their crimes they committed to Jiwon and getting them fired if they even try to gaze at you!
Kang ji-won
⊷ Jiwon is more of a protective yandere so say the least...she knows people aren't the kindest in this world and you were with her since childhood and you comforted her when her father passed, when Eunho Baek confessed to Sumin and when Sumin overall embarrassed her but she was too dense to see through it...
⊷ Jiwon will makes sure any one whom she sees as a threat is somehow suddenly away from you or trapped in a very bad situation, Jiwon can pull a few strings...she's not dumb!
⊷ Jiwon cannot stand Sumin or Minhwan being around you, she will blackmail them and isn't afraid to reveal info to certain people..She definitely got Huiyeong and Jihyeok under her fingers to help her if anything goes wrong.
⊷ Jiwon doesn't know it very well, but she's a rather good manipulator and can use people's words against them, she is absolutely not afraid to manipulate you into depending on her or staying with her.
⊷ Makes sure you're safe at all times, has given tiny trinkets and attached some type of camera to it to see you at all times! She is also kind of a stalker at times to make sure you don't get hurt, she gives your...so she can keep an eye on you.
⊷ She will not let you be with anyone else other than her, she has been feeling as though she had been through enough and she will take whatever she deems she's worthy of and all that she thinks she deserves! And that includes you darling.
⊷ She isn't afraid to extinguish a life-light of one of your dear ones, by a little mistake of falsely accuse them of a crime...she is smart enough and has connections through Jihyeok and Huiyeong.

but the way jihyeok kissed her… (>///<)
like he didnt process the first time what happened he grabbed her and kissed her again and again like it would the last time he would ever be able to do so.
finally after years of pining and regret he finally has her the way he’s always wanted, and he isnt going to let it slip away from him. it hits 10x harder that he’s accepted that he might die in 10 years. i know he’s going to cherish every single moment he has with her.
oh and before they kissed he asked to hold her hand like that would be enough for him oh the gentleman that you are YU JIHYEOK

hi ^^ those are all the ptj verse comics and they all have characters from the other comics appearing / referenced. my life as a loser takes place during the runaway arc of lookism i think questism follows the same timeline as lookism + multiple lookism references (jin jang is the older brother of the jihyeok jang, haru is johan's cousin and mentor as well as johan helping the main cast, and jake gives advice to yugyeom na so these 3 are the only ptjverse characters from other comics to make a cameo. however, eugene and yuseong have been referenced in a comment by jaeha han) juvenile offender has connections to viral hit, with the mc being hobin's student and hobin appearing / being mentioned multiple times in the story + cameos from a few of the hobin yu company manager kim has cameos from a few lookism characters (goo and tom lee) as well as viral hit (taehun and hansu seong) i might be missing something but this is from my comprehensive knowledge from what i've read :]
Anon you are incredible and generous and beautiful thank you so much!!!!! I will add on to my LCU post as soon as I can :>

Yu Jihyeok from Marry My Husband is the most awkward introvert alive and I am h e r e for it. He cannot have a singular normal moment. Every time he speaks he’s misunderstood. He trips over his own feet because he’s looking at the mc. I love him.

SHADOW REVIEWS - MARRY MY HUSBAND
Decided to do a little series on this blog titled "Shadow Reviews" where I review some random shit (tv shows, books, etc). I'll start off by reviewing a webtoon I've been i n v e s t e d in for quite some time now, that webtoon being Marry my Husband! I won't give away too much, but the review is not entirely spoiler free so tread lightly! Additionally, please don't start discourse! These are all my personal thoughts. (Brief TW for mentions of domestic violence, financial abuse and illness)
PLOT SUMMARIZED: We start the story off with our protagonist, Jiwon Kang, who is dying of cancer. Minhwan Park, her husband is not answering any of her texts or giving her money she needs for treatment. She eventually returns home and finds Minhwan cheating on her with her best friend, Sumin Jeong (I'm hoping I spelled that right). And also finds out that Minhwan has basically been spending all her money. Jiwon attempts to confront the two, but Minhwan ends up murdering her in cold blood. But then Jiwon is brought back to life... back in time ten years before her death, and during the year she married Minhwan. Jiwon decides to get her revenge on both Minhwan and Sumin by making them marry each other. In the process, she develops a friendship with two co-workers, Juran Yang and Huiyeon Yu, and eventually falls in love with her boss, Jihyeok Yu. I won't go any further than that because I don't wanna spoil the story too much. WHAT I LIKED:
While I don't normally read webtoons, let alone isekai stories and romance stories, this one somehow won me over because of the plot alone. I love that while Jiwon is mainly focused on avenging her own death, she also tries to help her own co-workers, especially Mrs. Yang (who btw has the CUTEST KID :DDD) Also. Huiyeon. That's all I have to say here. While I wish Jiye and her friends got a bigger role, I still love those characters. From them crashing Sumin's wedding to helping Jiwon expose Sumin and Minhwan as assholes, Jiye and the girls definitely won me over. Lastly, Sumin. No, not the character herself, but how she was portrayed in the story. While Minhwan was the shitty ex-husband, I think Sumin is definitely supposed to be the main villain of the story, and the perfect foil to Jiwon. I don't have much complains about how she was written. Oh yeah. That one scene where Minhwan tries to confront Jiwon in her apartment... only to be greeted by a mean looking guy who immediately takes a disliking to Minhwan. That was funny lmfao. WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:
Speaking of, Minhwan's character was... kind of flat to be honest. There's not much to know about him besides the fact he's a cheater, abuser and a murderer. I do wish I learned more about him. Additionally, Mr. Lee, Jiye and her friends, and the other minor characters definitely deserved more appearances than they had. I am DEFINITELY not a fan of the "prettier without glasses" trope that showed up here to say the least. Tbh, as cute as they are together near the end, Jiwon and Mr.Yu's first interactions were... uncomfortable to say the least. Lastly, and this is mostly my personal preferences rather than an issue I have with the story itself but I need to say it anyway: Can the fake pregnancy trope just FUCKING DIE already.
OVERALL THOUGHTS:
It's not the greatest love story by any means, and it's not for everyone, but I would definitely recommend for folks to atleast read up to Episode 47 to say the least. This is definitely one of very few romance stories that I actually enjoyed even with some of it's issues. I'm especially looking forward to the side stories which I might review as well! FINAL RATING - 9.5/10.
